Saturday, March 24, 2012
Centennial Park

What is Runnin’ to Beat the Blues?

Runnin’ to Beat the Blues is a 5K and 1 Mile run/walk held in Centennial Park every spring.  The event is open to all ages and levels of athletes. Runnin’ emphasizes the importance of proactively caring for one’s mental health through physical activity.

Both courses are USATF certified and the 5K is included in the 2011-12 Nashville Striders Grand Prix Series.

Why should I participate?

  • Physical activity is good for you!  It helps keep your body and mind healthy.  Studies indicate that exercise may help combat depression, Alzheimer’s disease, and other mental health issues.
  • It’s for a good cause! Proceeds from Runnin’ directly support the important work of MHAMT, which is to connect those struggling with mental health problems to available services, provide vital educational and support services for those in Middle Tennessee, and advocate for affordable and accessible mental health care for all.
