TENNCARE PARTNER ADVOCACY LINE (TPAL)

What is TennCare?

TennCare is Tennessee's statewide managed health care program that provides health care benefits to Medicaid beneficiaries and certain other specific groups of uninsured or uninsurable Tennesseans. TennCare is divided into two parts 1) the physical health component, and 2) the mental health and substance abuse component (known as TennCare Partners).

Who is eligible for the TennCare Partners Program?

Everyone enrolled in TennCare is automatically eligible for services offered in the TennCare Partners Program. Remember, the TennCare Partners Program is the portion of TennCare that provides mental health and substance abuse benefits to TennCare enrollees. The TennCare Partners Advocacy Line is here to help you with TennCare Partners.

What is the TennCare Partners Advocacy Line?

The TennCare Partners Advocacy Line (TPAL) helps consumers of mental health and substance abuse services get the help they need. We also assist providers with the TennCare Partners system. Administered by the Mental Health Association of Middle Tennessee, the TPAL has advocacy specialists who will work with you, answering your questions and helping you resolve problems with your TennCare Partners Plan-everything from how to enroll in TennCare to how to file an appeal. We are available to answer calls Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. CST to 4:30 p.m. CST.

The TennCare Partners Advocacy Line is available to come talk with mental health and substance abuse providers and consumer groups about TennCare and TennCare Partners. Throughout the presentation, we encourage you to share with us how TennCare Partners is working in your area and to ask any questions you may have. Your call is answered by a friendly, trained advocacy specialist who will listen, answer your questions, and who will help you take the steps necessary to resolve your problem. The advocacy specialist will refer you to the appropriate resources.
